Who we are
MoveQuest (move-quest.com) is operated by Checkpoint Solutions Inc [legal name and address to be confirmed]. MoveQuest passes moving requests to licensed moving companies. It is not a moving company or a moving broker.
What we collect
- What you type on the request form: the ZIP codes you are moving from and to, the move date, whether your dates are flexible, the size of the home, any extra support you ask about (packing or storage), your name, phone number and email address, and whether you ticked the consent box.
- If you ask for a car-shipping quote: the year, make and model of each vehicle, whether it runs, and the carrier type you chose, with a separate record of your consent to be contacted by Route Runners.
- The record of your consent: the exact consent wording you were shown, its version, the time you sent the request, the page you sent it from, and your IP address and browser details.
- What you send on the contact page: your name, email address, topic and message.
- How you use the site: pages viewed, the device and browser, and approximate location, through Google Analytics cookies, and our servers' standard logs.
How we use it
- To pass your moving request to the moving companies named on our network page, so they can contact you with quotes.
- If you ask for a car-shipping quote, to pass that request, with your name, phone number, email address, route and move date, to Route Runners Logistics Inc. (Route Runners Auto Transport), which prices it and contacts you about it.
- To keep proof of your consent to be contacted.
- To answer messages you send us.
- To run, secure and improve the site, and to stop fraudulent or automated requests.
- To meet legal obligations.
Who receives it, and the sale of your information
When you send a moving request, we sell it. The moving companies named on our network page pay us for the requests we pass to them. Several state privacy laws count that as a sale of personal information. Each mover that receives your request becomes responsible for how it uses your information under its own privacy policy.
A car-shipping request goes to Route Runners only when you ask for one and tick its consent box.
We also share information with the companies that run parts of the site for us (hosting, and email and text delivery [providers to be named]) and with Google, which provides Google Analytics. They may use it only to provide their service to us. We disclose information when the law requires it.
Your rights
Depending on the state you live in, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not treat you differently for using any of these rights.
- Opt out of sale or sharing: use Do not sell or share my personal information. We also treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as an opt-out.
- Everything else: contact us. We verify requests by matching the email address or phone number on the request.
How long we keep it
We keep request details and the consent record for as long as we need them to show your consent if it is ever questioned. Analytics data is kept under the Google Analytics retention setting [to be confirmed].
Children
MoveQuest is for adults planning a move. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Security
Requests travel over an encrypted connection and are stored on a server we control, readable only by the people who run MoveQuest.
Changes
If we change this policy we will post the new version here with a new effective date. Consent you gave stays tied to the wording you were shown.
